Self-healing Key Distribution Schemes with Sponsorization
نویسنده
چکیده
In a self-healing key distribution scheme a group manager enables a large and dynamic group of users to establish a group key over an unreliable network. The group manager broadcasts in every session some packet of information in order to provide a common key to members of the session group. The goal of self-healing key distribution schemes is that, even if the broadcast is lost in a certain session, the group member can recover the key from the broadcast packets received before and after the session. This approach to key distribution is quite suitable for wireless networks, mobile wireless ad-hoc networks and in several Internet-related settings, where high security requirements need to be satisfied. In this work we provide a generalization of previous definitions in two aspects. The first one is to consider general structures instead of threshold ones to provide more flexible performance to the scheme. The second one is to consider the possibility that a coalition of users sponsor a user outside the group for one session: we give the formal definition of selfhealing key distribution schemes with sponsorization, some bounds on the required amount of information. We also give a general construction of a family of self-healing key distribution schemes with sponsorization by means of a linear secret sharing scheme. Our construction differs from previous self-healing key distribution schemes in the fact that the length of the broadcast is almost constant. Finally we analyze the particular case of this general construction when Shamir’s secret sharing scheme is

Self-Healing Key Distribution Schemes for Wireless Networks: A Survey
The objective of self-healing key distribution is to enable group users to recover session keys by themselves, without requesting additional transmissions from the group manager (GM), even when they miss some broadcast messages. One major benefit of the self-healing key distribution mechanism is the reduction of energy consumption due to the elimination of such additional transmission. Also in ...
متن کاملLong-lived Self-healing Group Key Distribution Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks
The self-healing group key distribution with revocation can deal with the session key distribution problem for secure group communication over an unreliable wireless network, with the capability of resistance to the packet loss and the collusion attack. However, since previous self-healing group key distribution schemes are restricted to m sessions, they will be reset frequently, which leads to...
متن کاملSelf-healing key distribution scheme with long service time
Self-healing key distribution schemes for broadcast encryption are capable of recovering missed group keys and resisting a collusion attack of up to t revoked users. However, since previous schemes have been considered only m sessions, it does not suitable to support infinite sessions. In the paper, we propose an efficient δ-self healing key distribution scheme with revocation capability. The p...
متن کاملComputationally Secure Hierarchical Self-healing Key Distribution for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks
Self-healing group key distribution is a primitive aimed to achieve robust key distribution in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) over lossy communication channels. However, all the existing self-healing group key distribution schemes in the literature are designed for homogenous WSNs that do not scale. In contract, heterogeneous WSNs have better scalability and performance. We are thus motivated ...
متن کاملHierarchical Self-healing Key Distribution for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks
Self-healing group key distribution aims to achieve robust key distribution over lossy channels in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). However, all existing self-healing group key distribution schemes in the literature consider homogenous WSNs which are known to be unscalable. Heterogeneous WSNs have better scalability and performance than homogenous ones. We are thus motivated to study hierarchia...
